Genre{s}: crime/noir/hard boiled/femme fatale
Payment type: exposure only
Our mission: To premiere sharply drawn stories of razor edge suspense and mad mayhem from crime-noir’s best up-and-coming authors.
General submission
guidelines:
What we’re looking for: stories that will get your blood pumping and your heart racing, keep you on the edge of your seat, sharply drawn, character-driven stories with a bite.
NOTE:
We’re looking for authors who think outside the box. Classic crime – think Mickey Spillane, James Elroy, and Jim Thompson – is fine, but should be infused with a modern-day edge – think Marc Lecard, Gregg Olsen, and Bill Cameron.
Submission format: {short fiction} MS Word 2003 / 2007 is fine, as well as rtf {rich text format} attachments. The story should be 12 point Times New Roman font, single spaced, and include your full name {and pseudonym} along with a short but sweet bio and brief publishing history in a separate attachment.
Word count: up to 5,000 words, query first for longer pieces. Depending on the length and quality of your work, it could be serialized over a span of several issues.
NOTE:
Query first; drop us a short-but-sweet query letter including a brief but informative synopsis of your story, along with the first page and last page of your story copy-pasted into the body of the email, with a hash-tag - # - between the two pages. Please include your full name and-or pseudonym in the body of the email as well, along with your email address. The subject line of your email should read: TG submission – then the story title and word count.
Payment: we offer only exposure for your work at this time, but hope to offer at least token payments down the road, depending on the success of the publication. If we develop enough of a following, we hope to offer at least semi-pro rates in the future.
Author’s rights: we ask for only one time electronic rights for your work for a period of three months, at which time all rights revert back to the author.
Response time: 2 weeks or less.
NOTE:
To authors seeking a publisher for full length manuscripts; we hope to publish at least two books per year under the TG moniker. This will include – but not be limited to - short fiction collections as well.
Submission format: {books} query first with a cover letter and synopsis, along with the first
and last chapters of your book separated by a hash tag - # - and include your bio and brief publishing history as well. The book chapters should be copy-pasted into the body of the email. The subject line of your query should read TG book submission – and then book title and word count. {For collections, send three sample stories separated by a hash tags}.
Book word count: {novels} 65,000 to 85,000 words. {Query first for longer
manuscripts}
Word count {collections} 45,000 to 55,000 words
Royalty agreement: publisher will pay the author sixty-five percent {65%} royalties on print books and thirty five percent {35%} royalties on electronic rights.
Author’s rights: we ask only for first time print and electronic rights to your work for a period of one year, at which time all rights will automatically revert back to the author.
Response time: 4 to 6 weeks.
NOTE: There are no reading fees at TG Magazine. All submissions are read and evaluated free of charge.

Screenplay contest:
Are you an aspiring screenwriter looking for that first big break? TG has recently
formed a kinship with New Show Studios of Pittsburgh, PA.
We are looking for screenplays in the following categories {genres}: modern-day
noir, crime, thriller, and hard-boiled detective. Bear in mind the screenplay should reflect a modern-day, cutting edge style, with deft pacing, colorful characters, and plenty of twists and turns along the way.
Formatting: we would prefer if the screenplay were submitted in standard screenplay format. However, if you do not currently have a screenplay program on your PC, there are plenty of decent screenplay programs available for a free download if you surf the net. One free download worth its weight in gold is Celtx, and another is Practical
Scriptwriter, both free and both great programs for the beginner.
Submission details: Send only your best, completed and polished work for consideration, in the form of an 8 by 11, standard screenplay format file, with all text being in 12 point Courier New font. Send your synopsis in a separate file attachment, along with your full name and-or pseudonym and a short-but-sweet bio and brief publishing history. The subject line of your inquiry must read: TG Screenplay Contest– and the screenplay title.
NOTE:
T he standard page count for a screenplay is normally 85 pages or above. Be sure you have a screenplay that will clock in at least 85 minutes or above, or it will most likely not be considered by a major studio.
Grand prize details: the winner – whom will be announced on April 15th, 2013 – will be presented with a professional presentation put together by New Show
Studios, to be pitched to a major TV network by July 2013.
So, there you have it. Good
